First Year of Success for the Art & Design Academy
March 2010
Since it opened a year ago, Liverpool John Moores University’s new Art & Design Academy has not only been home to the School of Art and Design but has also variety of commercial events for a range of clients from across the UK.
Some of the events we have held over the last year:
BBC Connect & Create Conference
Andrew Collinge Master Class
CASE Europe Conference
The Design Symposium 2009
Andrew Collinge Degree Show
The Royal Academy of Arts Dinner
British Hydropower Annual Conference
In a light, contemporary setting with art installations accessible to all visitors, the Academy offers excellent facilities complemented with quality seasonal produce provided by the renowned Tate Catering, to complete the whole conference package.
The Academy has a range of facilities to suit all types of events, from small and medium sized meeting rooms and training rooms, to an auditorium/multi-purpose space that can seat 300 in a variety of layouts – theatre style, cabaret style or even as a dinner venue.
Dawn Fantin, Head of Conference & Events Services, commented: “It has been an exciting first year implementing new practices for a new building. The key areas have been building up relationships and best practice between the Conference & Event Services team and our colleagues to deliver excellent service, exceeding the expectations of our visitors. Thanks to everyone’s commitment this has proved to be successful, evidenced by the levels of business we have managed to secure for the building and the success of all events that have taken place there. We are working hard to establish the Academy as a prime venue in the Merseyside region for the creative industries, which meets the needs of all sectors requiring prestigious facilities for their meetings and conferences, generating valuable additional income for the University.”
