Sir Bob Geldof Delivers Keynote Speech in Bristol

Sir Bob Geldof spoke passionately at the annual ICT conference held at the UWE Exhibition and Conference Centre on the subject of government funding for technology in UK schools.

He also explained his personal interest in parental communications, and why schools should embrace new technology to improve the welfare and safety of their children.

Although best known for the 1985 Live Aid and 2005 Live 8 concerts, as a rock star with the Boomtown Rats and as a campaigner on a range of issues, Bob Geldof is also a proven businessman.

In addition to being a founding partner of Groupcall, he established the pioneering TV production company, Planet 24. In the late 1990s, he moved into new media, launching the online travel agency site deckchair.com and the mobile portal WapWorld.

He was awarded a knighthood in June 1986, and in the last two years has received the Nobel Man Of Peace Award, the MTV Free Your Mind Award and a Brits Lifetime Achievement Award for outstanding contribution to music.

The event was attended by a record 1500 delegates and providing the opportunity for some of the biggest suppliers in the Educational ICT industry to explain what products and services are available whilst also providing an insight into best practice and the future of the industry.
