Success of Well Met Ambassador Scheme celebrated at exclusive awards dinner
October 2011
Well Met Conferencing recently hosted an awards dinner to celebrate the success of the University's Ambassador Programme. The dinner was the first one of its kind for Well Met Conferencing, welcoming over 120 guests including Ambassadors, the Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Leeds and members of the region's tourism office, Welcome to Yorkshire.
The conference Ambassador Programme is an innovative and award-winning scheme that aims to encourage staff and colleagues in the city to become "Ambassadors", and actively promote Leeds Metropolitan University's conference and events facilities to associations, organisations and societies of which they are members.
As well as a speech from the Right Worshipful Lord Mayor of Leeds - who discussed the benefits of the University and the programme to the city - Stephen Willis, Finance Director for the University, gave a welcome and introduction to the Ambassador Programme, while Professor Susan Price, Vice Chancellor of the University, discussed her experiences of conferences at Leeds Met. Prof. Susan Price also recollected a comment from a recent client -Tony Rogers from the British Association of Conference Destinations - who had addressed a recent meeting of Destination Bureaux stating "Leeds Met has one of the most innovative Ambassador schemes".
Kate Davis, Business Development Manager for Well Met Conferencing, said:
"We are thrilled with the success of our very first Ambassador Awards dinner as it provided us with a great platform to recognise and reward our existing Ambassadors. It also enabled us to highlight to our potential new members how valuable the scheme is to the University and to Leeds.
"Since the scheme was launched in December 2008 we have had over £1million worth of enquiries and £800,000 worth of confirmed business. Clients introduced through the scheme include the NHS, Primary Care trusts, various financial organisations, societies and associations from the Academy of Marketing to Leeds City Council Sports Awards.
"The Ambassador Scheme is integral to our profit generating activities which contribute to the overall enhancement of the student experience at Leeds Metropolitan".
